CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (January 1, 2019)—Northeast Media Associates (NEMA) of South Portland has been selected as the communications partner for TD Beach to Beacon 10K to manage publicity and social media for the event, which draws thousands of runners and spectators to Cape Elizabeth each August.

Angela Helton, owner of NEMA, has helped bring national and international attention to a number of popular regional and statewide events over the years, including eight years managing public relations for Harvest on the Harbor and six years with Boothbay Harbor’s Windjammer Days. Helton and her team have also worked with Best Places to Work in Maine for more than a decade and the Institute for Family-Owned Business’ Maine Family Business Awards for the past several years.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the race organizing committee to promote this iconic event,” said Helton. “The TD Beach to Beacon 10K is such an important part of the fabric of this community, not to mention a highly regarded race for elite athletes and casual runners alike. My team and I look forward to maintaining the excellent and well-earned reputation this race has built over the

past two decades, and to bringing our expertise to help elevate TD Beach to Beacon 10K even further.”

Wolfe PR has done the public relations for the event since its inception.

Race Director Dave McGillivray said, “We would like to thank our long-time partner, Wolfe PR, for their dedication and good work over the years and wish them the best of luck in retirement.”

The TD Beach to Beacon 10K, set for Saturday Aug. 3, 2019, draws runners from throughout the region and the world to picturesque Cape Elizabeth. In conjunction with the race, the organizing committee also hosts a Kid’s Fun Run with 500 kids under the age of 12, and hosts a High School Mile that features many of the top high school runners in Maine. The weekend’s events are all focused in Ft. Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. In 2018, the 21st running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K included 6,526 runners from 19 countries, 43 states and more than 270 Maine cities and towns, who finished the winding, rolling 6.2- mile coastal course in humid, hot conditions. Thousands of spectators cheered runners along the route and at the finish, and more than 800 volunteers helped ensure a smooth operation. The race debuted in 1998 with 2,408 runners crossing the finish line.
