CAPE ELIZABETH, MAINE, July 27, 2026 —An exciting international field of world-class runners will headline the 2026 TD Beach to Beacon 10K on Saturday, August 1st.
The professional athletes will compete for more than $90,000 in prize money. The winners in the men’s and women’s open races each receive $10,000 and there are awards for the top 10 runners overall, courtesy of title sponsor TD Bank. Also included is a $23,000 purse for American men and women, sponsored by Dunkin Donuts, split evenly among the top five American men and women, with a $5,000 top prize.

Men’s field includes 2025 runner-up, numerous American and international contenders
Patrick Kiprop of Kenya, who came in second at the 2025 TD Beach to Beacon 10K with a personal best of 27:36, will vie for the championship in a strong men’s field. Kiprop has already won three times this season at the 10K distance, including the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta earlier this month. He will be challenged by fellow Kenyan Raphael Dapash, who finished third at the 2026 Peachtree 10K, and Habtom Samuel of Eritrea, currently the top collegiate runner and two-time NCAA and national champion. Great Britain’s Patrick Dever, former NCAA and national champion will be returning to Cape Elizabeth where he set his PB at last year’s TD Beach to Beacon 10K (27:44).
Among the Americans expected to contend for the title are former national champions Biya Simbassa, who posted a top 10 finish at the 2025 TD Beach to Beacon, and Joe Klecker, who posted a 10K PB (28:11) in Cape Elizabeth last year. Graydon Morris also posted a PB (27:57) at TD Beach to Beacon last year and has several top 10 road finishes this season.
Other men slated to compete this year include Pasanjo Kitonga of Kenya; Kieran Tuntivate of Thailand; Aaron Gruen of Austria; Itta Tameike and Hayate Homma of Japan; Barry Keane of Ireland; and Americans Alex Maier, Andrew Colley, Reid Buchanan, Robert Miranda, Murphy Smith, Bob Liking. Griffin Humphreys, Aidan Troutner, and Adam Wood.
Trio of Kenyans and several Americans headline strong 2026 women’s field
With the top three women from 2025 not returning this year, the race for the championship is wide open. Favorites include Pamela Kosgei of Kenya, a two-time NCAA champion, World Cross Country silver medalist, and African U20 champion. Fellow Kenyans Vicoty Chepngeno, who had a top 10 finish at the Los Angeles Marathon earlier this season. Julia Paternain of Uruguay, who set her PB (33:04) in the 10K earlier this season in Mesa, AZ, will be running her first TD Beach to Beacon.
Among the American women vying for the title are Elise Cranny, four-time national champion and current world record holder (4x1500m relay); Molly Born, who won the USA Half Marathon Championship in Atlanta this March and had a strong finish and PB (31:55) at last year’s TD Beach to Beacon 10K; and Dakotah Popehn, who ran the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics and won Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN last month and will be competing in her first TD Beach to Beacon 10K.
Other women expected to compete this year include Wuga He of China; Wakana Kabasawa of Japan; Micaela Rivera Wood of Peru; and Americans Annie Rodenfels, Jackie Gaughan, Megan Sailor, Taylor Werner, and Elena Hayday.
The TD Beach to Beacon 10K begins near the Crescent Beach State Park entrance on Route 77 in Cape Elizabeth and winds along tree-lined roads and past dramatic ocean vistas before ending 6.2 miles later in Fort Williams Park near Portland Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse in America. This year’s beneficiary for the race is Dirigo Reads.
