A DECISION BY THE AIU (ATHLETICS INTEGRITY UNIT) HAS CHANGED THE FINAL RESULTS OF THE 2024 BEACH TO BEACON 10K RACE

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (September 26, 2024) –The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), a division of World Athletics, the international governing body for the sport of athletics, which includes road racing, has announced a three-year ban for Faith Chepkoech of Nairobi after she admitted to a violation of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules. The decision by the AIU can be found here.
Chepkoech was announced the winner of the women’s division for the 2024 Beach to Beacon 10K on August 3, 2024.
Due to the AIU’s decision, the Beach to Beacon 10K results and prize money for 2024 will be changed as follows:

“In addition to adjusting our race results to reflect Faith Chepkoech’s disqualification as the winner of our 2024 race, we will adjust the distribution of the prize money as appropriate upon our receipt of the $10,000 of prize money that the race paid to Ms. Chepkoeh. We have been informed that the prize money will be voluntarily returned to us shortly,” said David Backer, Beach to Beacon 10K Race President.
