Alec Troxell of Portland and Orono’s Ruth White top the Maine runners.
CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (August 1, 2026) – Habtom Samuel (Eritrea) (27:40) and Pamela Kosgei (Kenya) (31:51) are the winners of the 28th annual TD Beach to Beacon 10K. More than 6,000 runners, including an elite group from around the world enjoyed perfect running conditions under sunny skies and crisp morning temperatures.
In the women’s race, Kosgei outkicked Elise Cranny (Boulder, CO) (31:53) to take top honors by two seconds. Kosgei is a two-time NCAA champion and a World Cross Country Silver medalist. This was her first ever road race. Cranny nearly became the first American woman to win the TD Beach to Beacon. She is a four-time NCAA champion and current 4x1500m relay world record holder. Molly Born (Chapel Hill, NC) (32:15) finished third. Born won the USA Half Marathon Championship earlier this year.
As for the men, Samuel took the tape eight seconds ahead of Patrick Kiprop (Kenya) (27:48). Samuel is currently the top collegiate runner and two-time NCAA and national champion. Kiprop finished second for the second year in a row. He had already won three 10K races this year. Raphael Dapash (Kenya) (28:03) took third.
As for the Maine finishers, Ruth White (Orono, ME) (34:05) led the women for the third time in her career. White took top Maine honors in 2023 and 2025. She trimmed more than 45 seconds off her winning time from last year. Cliodhna O’Malley (Windham, ME) (35:10) finished second for the second year in a row. Heather Gallant (Wayne, ME) (35:23) came home third.
In the Maine men’s race, Alec Troxell (Portland, ME) (29:15) became a first-time winner. His time was five seconds off the course record for a male Maine runner set by Ben True in 2009. Troxell edged out Will Geoghegan (Portland, ME) (29:19) who finished four seconds behind. Colin Cernik (Portland, ME) (30:06) completed the all-Portland top three finish.
In the Men’s Wheelchair Division Miguel Jimenez Vergara (National City, CA) (22:36) posted the second fastest time in the race’s history. This was his first TD Beach to Beacon. Jason Robinson (Champagne, IL) (23:30) finished second, nearly a full minute behind Vergara. Hermin Garic (Utica, NY) (24:33) took the bronze. Garic had recently dominated the race, winning three out of the previous four years..
In the Women’s Wheelchair Division, Hoda Eolshorbagy (Urbana, IL) (26:25) finished nearly two minutes ahead of the field with a blistering course record time. Yen Hoang (Champaign, IL) (28:31) came in second. Hoang won the TD Beach to Beacon in 2022 and 2023. Three- time race champion Hannah Babalola (Chicago, IL) (30:23) completes an all Illinois top three finish.
In the Men’s Masters Division, Daniel Vassello (Peabody, MA) (32:07) registerd a comfortable victory. Nico de Vries (Denver, CO) (32:24) finished second. Joseph Reynolds (Westbrook, ME) (32:41) brought home top Maine honors.
In the Women’s Masters Division, Kellyn Taylor (Flagstaff, AZ) (33:54) lead the way. Two Mainers, Heather Gallant (Wayne, ME) (35:23) and Alexis Wilbert (Cumberland, ME) (35:35) came in second and third.
In the Men’s Seniors Division, Ryan McCalmon (Cape Elizabeth, ME) (34:24) finished first in his hometown race.
In the Women’s Senior Division, Karolyn Bowley (Middletown, RI) (41:26) took home an eight second victory.
The professional athletes compete for more than $90,000 in prize money. The winners in the men’s and women’s open races each receive $10,000 and there are awards for the top 10 runners overall, courtesy of title sponsor TD Bank. Also included is a $23,000 purse for American men and women, sponsored by Dunkin Donuts, split evenly among the top five American men and women, with a $5,000 top prize. The beneficiary of this year’s race, Dirigo Reads, was presented with a $30,000 check by TD while the racing community collec ted an additional $45,000 bringing the total donation to more than $75,000 for the organization.
