TD Beach to Beacon 10K Statement on Diversity

We stand firmly against the racism and violence that continues to take place against Black communities across America. As a society, we must come together to speak out against the systemic racism that has plagued Black Americans for centuries. The TD Beach to Beacon 10K race is about unity and connecting people to the community. The field of runners is a blend of races, ethnicities and nations that each year demonstrates the humanity ingrained in the sport of long-distance running. There is no place for racism here, or anywhere.

The TD Beach to Beacon stands with those who seek justice through peaceful protests across our country and we support the Black Lives Matter movement. We condemn racism in all of its forms, but we recognize that is not enough. In the wake of the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the countless others who have lost their lives to racism, silence is not an option.

Words will not be enough to ensure that change happens. The TD Beach to Beacon 10K organization will be making a donation to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the ACLU of Maine Foundation. We pledge to listen, learn and find ways to support positive change so that our community is safe and inclusive for all.
